The projects below are a representative set of fleet programs QMI has led — not marketing case studies, but actual deployments run under the conditions that come with this work. Tight service windows. Multiple vendors. Vehicles that can only be pulled from service in specific blocks. Coordination across sites, states, and time zones.
Each entry covers what QMI owned, the scale of the fleet, and the technology involved. The common thread is not the equipment — the systems vary across programs. It is how the work was planned so vehicles went back into service without creating downstream problems for the maintenance teams responsible for keeping them running.
Vendor: VIX
Fleet: 1087 vehicles
Front and rear door validator installation
Vendor: VIX
Fleet: 800 vehicles
QMI handled the full program: initial bus survey, custom stanchion fabrication, install kits built to each bus type, and the installation itself. During deployment, field teams averaged 30 installs per night with nightly PM coordination for completed ATP forms. A follow-on scope added removal of 160+ legacy platform validators and 130 ticket vending machines, replaced with new equipment.
Vendor: Masabi
Fleet: 456 vehicles
QMI led the bus survey, fabricated custom stanchions, supplied all installation materials, and executed the installations. Field teams averaged 20 installs per night with nightly PM coordination for completed ATP forms.
Vendor: Bus Patrol
Fleet: 3,200+ school buses
QMI installed up to 12 cameras per bus — including stop-arm cameras, DVRs, antennas, and full cable runs — across one of the largest school bus surveillance programs in the country. QMI also served as the prime contractor onsite, managing two additional subcontractor installation companies through the deployment.
Vendor: Vontas
Fleet: 600 vehicles
QMI ran the pilot, fully de-installed the legacy CAD/AVL system, and deployed the replacement across the fleet. Installs averaged six vehicles per shift with nightly PM coordination for completed ATP forms.
Vendor: TSI
Fleet: 271 fixed-route and paratransit vehicles
QMI ran the pilot, built custom cable harnesses, removed the legacy camera system, and deployed the new one. Nightly PM coordination kept completed ATP forms moving throughout the install window.
Vendor: KUBA
Fleet: 400 vehicles
QMI handled the fleet survey, manufactured all stanchions and cable harnesses in-house, built deployment kits for the install crews, and executed the installation.
Each of these programs started with a scope — and ended with vehicles back in service, running the technology they were meant to run. If you are evaluating a similar program, or working through one that is not going the way it should, that is the kind of conversation worth having.
